Okay all, I am new to camping with EHU so bear with me, I am not "up" on all the right lingo...

I currently own an airbed pump which plugs into my car cigarette lighter. It's great, works quickly, it's tiny, it was only £4, absolutely fab little bit of kit.

Last time I went camping, it was pouring with rain, and we had to stand out in the rain with the car door open (getting the inside of the car soaked) and the airbed got soaked as well. We held off as long as we could in the hope the rain would stop, but by 1030pm it was still raining so we couldn't wait any longer.

I've just invested in an EHU setup and would love to know if there is a device I can buy which would plug into the EHU and then have a cigarette-lighter-shaped hole that I could plug the airbed pump into. Just so that if it's raining, we could pump the bed up in the tent, rather than outside at the car.

Obviously, if they cost a bomb then I would just go & buy a small 240v airbed pump instead, but as I have seen most of them running at around £13 I thought a little converter thingy of some sort might be better...

But *gulp* it's be cheaper for me to just buy a new mains powered airbed pump, I didn't know they would be so expensive.

I have one of these uk/transformer-240-12v that I acquired as part of a job lot of camping gear that I bought, I was going to throw it but thought I would keep it and maybe one day find a use for it, I have not tested it so not sure that it works but it looks to be in good condition

 

If you want it you can have it free of charge

 

I have just had a look at the transformer and I pluged the car charger for my airbed pump into it, and the green charge light came on so i assume it is in working order

Hi. Soon Aldi will be having their main camping stuff in and last year their mains-operated air pump was around £5. We've used one for the last three years without any problems. Saw another one today in Focus for around the same price.

Tesco do an airpump with a 12V lead and a mains adaptor for £6 in their camping section.

I've bought a couple for in-laws but haven't used them in anger yet.

This is the right one. Some smaller units will not power much. These are designed specifically for cool boxes, which if I`m correct is the most powerful 12v item you will plug into it. And for free.

glad it arrived safe and is what you wanted, nice to see it get used rather than lying in my shed, I dont use EHU so couldnt see me ever using it
