Sounds a bit silly, but looking on certain well known auction websites I see these fridges that also warm food. Now I notice they all say 18c below ambient temperature, so in the middle of the summer the inside of a tent can easily get above 30c, meaning a 12c temp in the fridge..Not good!

What about husky fridges? Does anyone have any info on these 50ltr fridges?

Or what would you suggest as I'm suick of throwing food that was only bought 24hrs previous.

                   I picked up a Waeco CF25 from pre-loved, last November for £150, which I thought was a lot to pay for a S/H fridge, although it had never been used, still in the original shrink wrap packaging, can you believe this tiny fridge is almost £500 brand new!, why, well for a start it uses a mini compressor, instead of the absorbtion process, this means you can dial in the temp you want, even as low as minus-18DegC should you want to use it as a freezer, and it don't matter what the ambient temp is, it will stay at whatever you have set it to do, even though I could have bought a Waeco CAB40 from a shop for £150 I chose to go for the CF25, due to its diminutive size, and also the fact that the CAB40 would struggle with the heat in Southern France during July, if I am lucky I will hire a fridge at the site and just use my Waeco for days out. 

Thanks to Francais, Debbie & Elsie for your side of the coin, looks like a 3 way fridge is the right way to go...trade offs against boot space in the car now come in to play.

I have a 42ltr 3 way fridge that I brought last year and wouldn't be without it.  Used it on a few family camps last year and made my life alot easier as I camp on my own with the kids.  Last weekend I took our cub pack camping (27 kids) and managed to fit all the meat (there was alot believe me), as well as milk, butter, juice (put in as the others run out) and all the other leaders thought it was the best bit of kit we took, the scout leaders are borrowing it for their week long summer camp.

The only thing with 3 way fridges is, if you are running them off gas they need to be level, I pack a little spirit level and a few squares of old skirting board to level mine.

The other advantage is if you need extra space at xmas or a beer fridge etc you can plug it in at home.

I usually put mine on at least 24 hours before I go anywhere and then hook it up to the 12v in the car for travelling.  The other advantage is on return trips when all the food is gone you have extra storage space for anything you got while you were away.

We would not be with out our fridge got it from towsure ( combicool T35 ) and run it from the elec with a converter, even on the warmest of days the contents of the fridge was very cool.

We use it during the summer for family bbq's for the wine and beer and to keep the meet cool for cooking..
