I wondered if you can get roof bars that fit onto a trailer that has an abs solid lid?
We have a Lider Seville trailer with an abs lid. The lid is smooth, without any sort of bars on top. We wouldnt want to buy the side extentions as we have the lid, and they are mesh.
We are just looking for ideas to give us a little more room for things/ space in car when travelling with all of our camping gear.
Thanks

Don't know if this idea would help, but we had a roof box on top of our tt. It wasn't possible to fix the bars to the tt so OH fixed the box to the bars, then when the tt was packed up we just put the box onto the top using the bars to lift it. We then packed the box and strapped the whole thing tightly to the tt with ratchet straps.

Not sure if this is what you are after. abs roof rack
I really googled to find out what your trailer looks like. I would doubt if an ABS cover would be strong enough to hold a roof box and take all the stresses. Rather I would find a way of attaching to the body of the trailer.
I thought that the roof bars would have to be secured to the actual trailer too. I don't want to be checking constantly that nothing has moved or is going to come flying off!
I was hopeful that the a frame at the front of the trailer, would hold a storage box of some description, but alas the space is way too small.
Guess I'll have to be an ace packer! ...I need to have space for shopping when I'm coming home from france.
Thanks again.

I've got a Franc trailer with ABS lid and on our trips carry a Thule 4 bike rack on it. The bike rack is the sort that normally goes on the towball, but of course can't when the trailers there.
The rack sits on a couple of wooden bearers that run the full width of the top near to moulded ribs (quite small ribs really). The bearers are each made from a beam of appprox 4"x2" hardwood that I had lying around, each beam is cut along its length to match the curved profile of the outer surface of the ABS lid and then the convex part of the beam sanded to remove wood the thickness of the lid to match the inner profile of the lid. The concave and convex parts are then bolted back together through the lid. I've also added a couple of bits of wood on each beam to act as guides and provide some sideways restraint, the rack's held down with a strap down to the trailer frame/chassis at each corner.
This seems to work for me, but all the usual disclaimers apply
Scuse the photo... I can't work out how to rotate it on dropbox.com... It's the right way round on my PC - I've rotated it - but when I upload it reverts back sideways ?
I think I'll need to investigate further to find a stockist who does roof bars for my trailer or perhpas get someone to make some up. It's either that or leave somethings behind......couldn't even begin think what it is we take but don't need, lol.
Thanks to everyone for the helpful suggestions/advice.

Whatever software I open the image with on my pc shows it the right way up... but when uploading to tinternet, (I use dropbox), it reverts all the photos back to sideways orientation... I use Office 2007 (or 2003 depending what PC I'm on) Photo Assistant to rotate all the photos, then place them into a dropbox folder on my PC,, which synchronises them between 3 pc's, and uploads them to the web also, all three pc's show the picture the right way round, but dropbox shows them all un-rotated... Maybe photo assistant doesn't actually change the underlying jpeg or something... Tis annoying me lots... I work in I.T. so I'll keep at it until I figure out why dropbox keeps showing the original unrotated jpegs...
Hi we too had the same problem about trying to get roof bars for our trailer. We found a local guy who made 2 E shape bars (without the middle bit) and supplied with four plates and 10mm long bolts and wing nuts. We drilled two holes in the side of trailer for each plate and the bars have two matching holes through you just bolt the bars to the side of the trailer we then put three bike racks on top the whole thing cost a tenner so find yourself a local welder give him the width of the outer side of trailer to other side and these will do fine. We just towed trailer with two adult and one child bikes to weymouth for week and they all stayed on.
