Bought x5 of these last year, and have used for a total of 7 nights and 3 are leaking to destruction, and it appears to be manufacturing / design flaw rather than puncture or misuse (so will be taking this up with retailer).

Has anyone similar experience of rubbish airbeds?

Can anyone recomment a decent brand / model of airbed that will bring back the joy of camping?!

Ah the good ol airbed deflating game

I started off with tesco cheapy airbeds, then used a 5-in-1 sofa as a bed - both deflated

Now I have a aerobed.........so far so good

But I am not holding my breath lol

I'm sure there was a problem with one of the Outwell airbeds last year sometime - I remember posts about it.

We got one as part of a tent + stuff we bought off eBay - it was brand new in box never used and it didn't even get going because there was no end bung with it when we opened the box, blew it up then O?H started shouting for the bung lol. Daughter wasn't bothered because she prefers sleeping on a deflated air bed!!

Those blue ones deflate as well.

As Woofers says the only ones I have found not to deflate - even during a weeks camping - is the Aerobeds.

spoke with retailer today; they confirmed a known fault with batches of these Outwell airbeds and will fully refund for all 5 beds.............have also recommended Coleman as a similar priced alternative of better quality.

I bought the HiGear flocked airbed at Go Outdoors a couple of months ago when it was on special, it was only £12 or something, and it is FABULOUS.

Have never had to add extra air to it the following morning like I usually have to do with other beds - I'm used to "topping" them up each night before bed - this one did 4 nights and didn't leak a bit, very impressed, I'd definitely buy another!

2011 plans:
April - Exmoor 11 nights
May - Brynawelon, Wales 3 nights
July - Rendlesham Forest 4 nights
Then I am off back home to Australia, where the weather is always perfect for camping :)

We originally bought  a pair of Campingaz doubles.  And spent more time finding and repairing leaks than we did lying on them.

We eventually decided that we'd had enough Blue Peter style fun cutting out little scraps of plastic and glueing them, and moved onto a pair of Intex ones.

Now I'm bored as I only get to blow them up and deflate them. The valves on the Intex ones are also infinitely better than the Campingaz ones.

just spent the weekend on an AeroBed which was fantastic bought it through this site with a discount. i normally hate airbeds and never sleep well on them, usually use a thermarest. but my wife likes air beds, we had an aerobed at home the pluged in but bought one with a rechargable pump/car charger, best 50 quid i have spent (think it was reduced from a 100 or so)

I had a very bad holiday last year with an Outwell Excellent airbed, we ended up patching it 4 times in different places and then gave up and slept on the floor, when I emailed Go Outdoors they didn't reply, so just binned it and bought aerobeds, and they have restored my faith in airbeds.

I'm surprised Therm-a-rest haven't been mentioned - these have always been firm favourites on camping trips I've been on...thet self-inflate and are quite light, better for lightweight camping.

Got to be AeroBeds,we sleep better on them when we are camping than the bed we have at home.
If you have a problem, they have excellent customer service.
Not the cheapest, but imo the best.
