Hello all. I have a Renault Trafic Holdsworth Romance (1985) and am looking for an awning (preferebly drive away, though not imperative). I have seen a post about awnings, but my van's side door is hinged and not sliding. I like the look of the Royal Traveller 3 awning but cannot see how it will attach to my van because of the door that opens outwards on it's hinges. Please please please does anybody have any ideas or advice??? Thank-you.

We had the same problem with ours. If your back doors open, you could have one on the back. We used a 6ft square tent (I think it's called a day tent) but, of course, that didn't attach to the van so was just a place to store stuff.

I'm the secretary and rally co-ordinator of the Renault Trafic Motorhome Register - see here. My email link is under the bookworm.

Take a look at a movelite XL it can be used by straps over the top of the van which gives you the full height awning so the door could open out. My Delica is high so I had to use the XL which is really for vans like yours and it still had plenty of height to go.

Hi

I have a Renault trafic T1100 which has a hinged side door. I recently bought a Sunncamp Moto awning which is very similar to the royal traveller 3. It attaches to the van via a 8 rail to the gutter (our gutter is quite shallow so we had to use the guy ropes at the weekend which worked ok but the weather was excellent so not a problem - will try again on our next trip). We unzipped the inner door of the awning and the van door opened into the awning with no problem. We were even able to use the space between the van and the main awning compartment as small toilet with our portaloo (too much info I know).

Hope this helps
