Does anyone use steps to reach inside their roof box and if so what kind?

I am only 5' 4" but have a Picaso and have borrowed a roof box which I will fill with lighter bulky items such as sleeping bags, clothes, etc but I will need steps with two stairs to reach inside and to fit it on.

Any suggestions please?

We have a Picasso too. When at home loading up I use a little aluminium 2-step step ladder that we have for decorating (for it from homebase years ago), which when next to car actually fits the contour of the car body shape. But we don't take it away with us, we just climb on the door sills and hold onto the roof bars. Or if we're at a self catering place use a dining chair.

I can only recommend that you pop to your local DIY store and find the smallest lightest one you can.

However, you do actually need to be able to reach the far side of the inside of the roofbox to fit the brackets to the bars, and even I (at 6'1") have to put a foot on the seats to get height for that. You need a tall friend to help you put the roof box on and off!

Definately a fair weather camper. I don't like rain. Rain + Tent = Trouble.

Hi

I have the same problem being 5'4" with a box on a Zafira.  I bought a set of folding steps/stool from ebay for about £12.  It doubles up as an extra seat and doesn't take up much room in the car.  Just have to remember to take it with me, as I also use it to clip the inside of the tent up too, otherwise I've got visions of carry on camping with my son on my shoulders and lots of giggling coming from the tent as we try and put it up! 17

How about a single ladder clipped underneath,  between the roof and the bars. I use my kayak as storage for light bulky items, and a step ladder on the drivers side of the rack with larger items tied on. But your roof box will probably be too wide to do that.

Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.

I have one on my Pajero and find it easier to open the doors and stand on the car floor. Easier to do than it sounds
