We used ours last weekend for the for the fiirst time, it cooked the food great no burning as you could lower & higher quite well, but I don't think we would want to cart it with us in the van as it's quite long & bulky & it needs at least 2 of quick lighting bags of coal, I think without having tried this yet, maybe normal charcoal would be better as it lasts longer. & it's not something I would like to take apart all the while!

Have seen someone here with a dutch oven on one, we have the Aldi one can you do this on this one as well, as there doesn't seem to be a centre chain, would we have to fit one of these ourselves,  how does anyone else get on with it. Thanks

We've had a tripod for a while now, it's not too tall and fits easily in the Landie along with the chairs and tables in its own bag.

It has a centre chain for hanging a dutch oven, which is how we usually use it, plus we've now added a cheapo round grill with a hanging basket chain for "normal" bbq-ing.

It uses less than half a bag of briquettes for an evening's cooking in the dutch oven, the coals go in a small round fire-pit type thing which is raised off the ground below whatever you're trying to cook.

Friday night we used it with our new smoker hanging from the chain, Saturday night we used it with the grill to BBQ some pork kebabs, and Sunday night we used it to cook a venison curry in the dutch oven. Very versatile, and easy to use.

i have put some wingnuts on ours for quick release and only split the legs in half not in quarters whan transporting, about 10 min setup time.

for the dutch oven, i bought a seperate chain and 'S' hook, just remove the grill chain when not in use and inset the new one for the oven. chain and S hook cost about £4.

cant say i have used briquettes / charcoal yet as all our cooking has been done above camp fires.

we used the lidl bbq complete, and with my 'makeshift' tripod.  works ok, but a bit unstable using the lidl rack, as you have to balance out the weight

with the botch tripod...

That's the one  Val sorry from Lidl not Aldi, like you said the only thing is it is a bit unstable with a bit of wind, not sure whether I would want to put the dutch oven on like that with the movement

OH has put clips on the ends of the three chains to release them easier from the griddle, looking at that I suppose we could clip all 3 to a dutch oven  leaving it on the pulley?  or have a go at what Smee has said..  mind we haven't got a dutch oven yet lol! am looking around for the cheapest one. How did you transport yours Val?

By the way what's cooking in both pots??

Just get a length of chain and 2 clips - attach it where the 3 chains meet the single one and hook the oven thru it

Was roast pork joint in some cider casserole sauce

and little roast spuds

and we baked a loaf in woofers dutch oven before we started cos we are a bit addicted to fresh bread now..!
