We're now serious about camping and have decided to invest in a Cabanon, we've read the reviews and it seems a Cabanon is the way forward.
Questions......
Is there anything we should be aware of when we purchase a Cabanon?
Are they really as good as everyone says?
I've noted that the cabanon factory is in northern france, not too far from Calais, has anyone or does anyone know if you can buy direct and if so is it any cheaper?
Has anyone bought from one of the camping shows and did you get any discounts?
Any feed back welcomed

Hi Brad.
I came to the same conclusion, late last year, and decided to hunt down a Cabanon, my tent of choice was the Biscaya 370 Cotton, as there are only the two of us, I visited Cabanon dealers such as Don Valley, Highbridge and Camperlands, but only got to see the "All Sason Polyester" model, I got lucky by coming accross a flyer from Catterick Caravans who were selling of thier stock of Biscaya's the 370 was going for £699 and the Vis a Vis was going for £899, I got the last 370 and now wish I had also bagged the Vis a Vis, had I known what the 2009 prices were heading for, still I saved £633 on this years list prices, so I am chuffed to say the least, as for buying in France, well do a google, the 370 Cotton was going for 1,499 Euro, and around the same price in the Dutch shops like De-Wit, seems that it is cheaper to buy a Cabanon here in the UK than in the rest of Europe, the reason I went for the 370 Cotton was traditional Canvas and steel poles, the finish and quality is second to none, save De Waard and Karsten maybe, but those makes come at a hefty price premium, if you are looking for a Cabanon my advice would be to buy end of season like I did, you are sure to get a big reduction on list price, if you let me know which model your after, I will check my notes, as I got a good few offe for other models as I was conducting my search for the 370. hope that helps.

Yes, depending on which model you go for they can be quite bulky and pack sizes of the larger frame tents are heavy, so think about how you are going to transport it.
Are they really as good as everyone says?
Yes, they are!
I've noted that the cabanon factory is in northern france, not too far from Calais, has anyone or does anyone know if you can buy direct and if so is it any cheaper?
You can't buy direct and it isn't cheaper to buy in France, sadly.
Has anyone bought from one of the camping shows and did you get any discounts?
If you find a camping show with a Cabanon display, please will you post on here and let us know?
Any feed back welcomed
Which model are you most interested in? Let us know which one takes your fancy and I'm sure there will be lots of feedback.
We've got / have owned the following models:
Espace
Bella Vista
Biscaya 500
Biscaya Vis a Vis
Latitude
Laguna
Pacific
Guadeloupe
Athena
Aruba
Andorra
Tango 3
Obviously, I don't think that any other tent manufacturer comes close to producing such high quality, family tents. Except perhaps the more specialist tent manufacturers, like De Wit.
