You heard wrong. Calor is only available in the UK & a couple of places in Ireland. Camping Gaz (Butane) is more expensive, but available everywhere. Calor (& other brands) sell two main gases. Butane is most economical & comes in blue cylinders, however it freezes below about 5 degrees C. Propane comes in red cylinders, does not freeze even in winter, but burns at a faster rate so costs more to use. For general camping, most people use Butane. There are other brands such as BP, who offer cylinders that can be filled at garages offering LPG. Whatever you get, you'll need the appropriate regulator. Your stove will burn any brand or type of gas.
