Hi

Anyone got one of these

and how would you rate them i.e. are they really as non-stick / easy to clean as advertised. ?

We have had a couple of Cadacs over the years and have found that the most useful pieces to us are the flat plate, pan rack and dome lid as there is less "clean up " involved, pan rack supports other large pots / pans and the lid aids all round / even cooking when using the flat plate.

We have the skottle but everything seems to stick to it so have stopped using that as its heavy also. I have seen the non stick liners for the skottles but that just proves my point really as Cadac had to come up with something to stop food sticking to the skottle.

So how good are the paella pans as i might be able to do away with the grill / flat plate and skottle

yep i got one love it do stew n fajitas stir fry's the lot ,yes very none stick but dont use anything abbrasive on it. .

amaboverd - thanks for the response - does it fit in place of the fat collecting ring and or  do you have to use the pan rack, then the paella pan sits on that ?

Well we used ours for the first time last night and did a curry in the skottel.  We did use the non-stick liner, simply because we thought it would be more easily washed than the skottel itself.

Would highly recommend the liner and thought our curry was brilliant - high heat seared the meats and browned the onions before a low heat simmered it all in the sauce - perfect.

We looked at the paella pan but decided against on these grounds, but not necessarily in this order:

1.  It's too big - there's just two of us and OH would be inclined to fill it resulting in wasted food

2.  It's too big - we got the Carri Chef Deluxe and have just ordered a roasting pan so we didn't want to have anything else to take with us

3.  It's quite expensive - we only paid £99.99 for the whole thing

4.  We love the skottel - as above, it produced a great meal, and we think most non-barbecue type foods will fit in there just fine

As with all things, there will be some who love the paella pan so you should make up your own mind, but I hope our points help, even if you do just say "that's rubbish and doesn't apply to us"!!

We have the paella pan and it's great. We now only take that when we travel. It sits straight on the burner so that you don't have to take the bottom black bit of the Cadac (hope that makes some sense?) so it saves a lot of space.

The lid sort of fits on the paella pan but not very well. We don't bother taking the lid with us as it's too bulky.

It is very non stick, we had the same problem as you with the Skottle (interestingly a buddy of ours has a much older Cadac and his skottle is non stick and fab).

We have used ours to "BBQ" sausages, burgers, steak etc., we have stir fried food, cooked chilli's etc. and we used it at a birthday party the other day to stir fry food for a whole group of people.

It is really versatile and I would highly recommend one.

We have a Paella pan and it is non stick and very easy to clean as advertised

We or I have cooked curries and fry ups and anything else you care to think of in fact with the exception of the pan stand I have left the rest of the cadac kit at home as I cook everything on the paella pan now

Can highly recommend the Paella pan!  Use it to cook pretty much everything from stir frys, full English breakfasts and curries to pancakes, banana fritters and cinnamon bread. It is often used in the kitchen at home when entertaining for a crowd!

Its personal choice really, IMHO i would still go for the Carri chef Deluxe Combohttp://www.busyoutdoors.com/shop/outdoor-cooking/cadac-bbqs/cadac-carri-chef-special-combo/prod_363.html

as you can often get good deals on them and you might find you like to use the other bits and pieces and is more stable than the Eazi chef, over the years though i have experienced:

1. The BBQ grill getts too messy and is a waste of space

2. The grill griddle is fine but if you do not want to clean out the fat tray / ring then use on the flat side only

3. The pot stand has been useful at times as you can use other pots and pans i.e. large pasta pan / wok etc..

4. The skottle is ok for stir fries etc but tends to stick

5. The lid comes in useful sometimes and allows more even cooking / roasting

So my conclusion is that FOR US - is Use the Carri Chef base and buy a Paella pan as it will be lighter to carry and would suit OUR cooking requirements.
