Hi all,

we are having to consider buying a car trailer to fit all our camping gear in now that the kids are getting longer legs and don't like too much in there footwells!!

Has anyone got any tips on buying a trailer, we want to be able to put 2 bikes on the roof of the trailer so it would have to be a hard top one.

OR has anyone got some super tips on how to pack everything down better.......My husband keeps telling me to pack light which I would if I could count on the weather!!!

We bought a Daxara 127 (4 foot by 3 foot), with hard top, off ebay. I've fitted roofbars to the top, onto which goes a roofbox, but could easily fit cycle carriers... Given the opportunity to buy the trailer again, I'd go for a slightly bigger one, maybe that's just cos we take so much stuff with us...

We bought one that had been constructed by a fellow camper and is great. It has a hard top and roof bars fitted which will either take top box or as we use it for 3 bikes. We put it up on stand and store camping stuff in there when not camping.

The car and top box are still full when we go away so would echo ADL's comment re size. Get the next size up form the one you think will be big enough!  Also think about where to store when not in use.

We bought ours out of the classified section of local paper, might be worthwhile looking there too, some people buy then realise no where to store etc.
