hi all, im a newbie and im hoping some one can help me.i have avondale godiva 556-6. my x70charging unit decided to pack up while we were away in march.being close to swindon caravan centre we went along and asked an engineer the best solution.he ended up selling us an amperor mv3/180c 3stage charging unit... im quite hands on so fitted it easily in about 2 hours and fitted a brand new 85 ah battery..i disconnected battery to check that charger would power all 12 v appliances. every thing working fine ,great ..witsun i took the van away for 10 days .second day i lost power to stereo then water pump died out and all 12v lights except awning light and front interior 240/12v ..i disconnected battery 12v awning and interior light stayed on so i was happy that charger was still doing its job .i checked all fuses no problems were found .my fatherinlaw was with us in his van and suggested swapping batteries.on switching batteries all lights fired up , water pump came on ,and the stereo.while swapping batteries my indicator was on green, but when we put it in his van the volt meter was reading 2-3v im totally confused by this please can anyone advise or give me some pointers thanxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx also why did charging unit not power all other lights and appliances are there 2 different circuits????????
Possibly an inline fuse between the charger and the battery, It could be well hidden, Mine was almost tucked under the battery tray, Only a few mm of wire visible.
thought id looked all over ,will look again. would this explain charger only running 2 lights instead of ten ..the charging system is supposed to power all things with or without battery .thanxxxx again
i will borrow a meter from work and go through every thing .also i mentioned battery being on green but only have 2-3v charge in it .its brand new could this be faulty,or could it be the size of battery ,to small for van??????
