Thinking of getting a couple of nice, comfy but practical chairs for myself and hubby to sit outside the caravan in the sun in and am looking for suggestions from you all please.

At the moment we have a couple of the bog-standard telescopic-folding-chairs-in-a-bag - you know, the sort that cost £17 each when we bought ours 10 years ago and are now less than a fiver, darn it! The ones that have arm rests with little pouches in them for your beer can!

Anyway, having had a back op several years ago I found they didn't offer me enough back support and I could never find a crane around when I wanted to get out of them so bought a couple of cheap dierctors-style chairs. These were great - did the job for me when I couldn't sit in anything without full back support but now that mu back is  a bit more like normal I could really do with something between the two - more comfortable than the directors chairs if sitting in them for any length of time but with more back support than the telescopic things.

So - I just wondered what everyone else's favourite camping chairs are?  Oh, they mustn't cost an absolute fortune or weigh a tonne or take up half the space in the van - 3 immediate reasons for OH to refuse to buy them!

Have recommended these before on here and can't recommend them enough.  OH was sick of the uncomfortable supermarket two for a tenner foldup chairs, so after much testing (and I mean testing, sitting on every chair at camping stores and exhibitions to find the right one!)

We bought these chairs, called Royal commander chairs, they fold up like the cheapo ones and come in a drawstring bag, obviously they are slightly bulkier but not overly so.

They are very very comfy with padding under the seat, so you don't get a cold bum!!! and padding up the back, with a higher back with neck support.

  Best wishes Sam

I agree, they're good chairs. Quest do a very similar one, but the Royal Commander is probably the best. The feature about them that is good is the hard arm rest, it just makes them feel so much more sturdy than the fabric armed chairs.

The link above is sold out, but at £20 I'm not surprised. Normally they're £30 each.

Otherwise have a look at the Outwell range. If they're going in a caravan rather than in a roofbox perhaps you don't need the space saving telescopic fold up design, a normal collapseable might be more comfy and add features like footrests.

I've got a couple of the Lafuma relaxers that can recline to almost flat. Very comy and relaxing. Depends on your budget and space though.

Those Royal Commander ones do look good - but I'm loathe to buy them now that I see they were once, somewhere, £20 each! I know that's silly - but I hate to know I could've paid less for anything!!!!!

Not really ready for a rocking chair just yet!

You're right Fruitymiss, we bought ours over the winter from leisure outdoors I think and paid £50 for two, they are now £69 for two, can't believe the increase in prices.

Worth either shopping around to get a good price or wait until winter again or get bums on seats and try some out

  Best wishes Sam
