I  have  often  thought that  it  would  be  a   good  idea  if  you  could  get  a small oven  that  could  be  connected  to  a  gas   bottle,  so  you  could  cook  things  that  had  to  be  done  in  an oven ,   would  one   of  these  gas  bbq  with  the lid  be  any  good ,  or  can  you  only  have  the  lid closed for  a  certain  amount  of  time  before haveing to  open  it.

when I was a kid my mum and dad took us caravanning everyweekend and she used a small oven thing that sat on top of your gas ring I often look for one when in the camping shops but only came across on once and at a price tag of 99.00 it was to much mum thrown heres away before we started camping and as for you bbq delemer last year in devon we got a tiny little hibatchi bbq its about 9 inches square, enough for 4 beefburgers at a time doesnt take up much space in the car the charcoal is minimal and was 3 quid!  brilliant for 2 or 3 people

The Cobb is powered by charcoal briquettes. By all accounts they are brilliant & would be perfect for a couple.

I use a Royal table top gas barbecue for the 3 of us, from the descriptions it is similar to the one a lot of others have mentioned above, cost £15 from local caravan dealer & runs off a 4.5 kg Calor bottle I carry as spare in case the main one runs out; but could also be run from the big one in the gas locker as suggested above.

Re using it as an oven with the lid on, I know others do this but have yet to try it myself.

Hi Caz, we now have a royal gas bbq

re using as an oven with the lid closed.............we also have a larger lidded gas bbq for use at home and the instruction book says you can cook a whole chicken, joints of beef etc etc!!!, I think it is the fact that you close the lid that makes it more like an oven, it did seem to cook our pork chops in no time with the lid closed though!!! (getting hungry now!), just thinking about a whole chicken in my bbq!! and when done pulling it apart with my fingers and.....................YUM!

We normally wait until the big stores are selling off their summer stuff & then get a small round bbq for anything between 99p - £2.50, we then put it away till the following year - then the following year we use it for our camping trips & then either leave it at the campsite on our last trip or give it to someone else to use, & again look for another really cheap one for the next year

Was looking at the Party Grill but my OH isn't keen on it as he likes 'traditional' barbequed food.

We always us the disposable BBQ when camping but for home we have a gas one.  The BBQ flavour comes with use.  The taste is from the burning fats that drip down onto the coals.  I was advised by an American friend not to clean my gas BBQ but to just scrape off the thick or the taste will just not be there.  I have de coked my BBQ today so this evenings meal will tell the truth

Hi i bought a charcoal portable bbq from matalan for £7.50 it is cylinder shaped with a carry handle and legs and folds in two you can use both sides seperatly or for smaller amount you can use one side only and prop the other side up which is great as a windbreak its really fast and good value for money and doesn't use much coal also stainless steel so easy clean

Just bought a small round BBQ from B&Q with legs that unclip rather than screw.  Really easy to put up - and take down. These were recommended by fellow campers last weekend who said they were brill.  On offer at the moment for £3.99. (Bought two - one for a spare.)
