Does anyone have an Outwell Alabama utility tent?Does it go up nice and tight? We thought about buying one to use instead of an awning.

We bought a Movelite awning and we both think its ****,very unstable in high winds.Worried about our week in Cornwall if we have bad weather.

I am just going to order one. We have the Movelite and have had a lot of use out of it and found it stood up to bad weather but we find it too much hassle putting it on the back of our van. Last year on our two week holiday we put it just freestanding to the side of our van.

The Alabama isn't far off the same size and I think it will be easier.17

Here's my review - http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/tents/p/Outwell-Alabama/857

For the windy conditions don't forget those delta pegs!

If you are looking for a lightweight awning, I have to recommend the Compactalite by Outdoor revolution.
I was thinking of buying an awning, one which wasn’t the size of the caravan and didn’t weigh as much. I came across the awning on an internet forum and people were really excited about it due to its lightweight and good quality. I also suffer from back problems I was looking for an awning that didn’t weigh too much (some awnings are over 40kgs!!!!). The Compactalite is unlike any awning I’ve seen previously, it is incredibly well built with a lightweight material and is robust even towards the strongest winds. They have 2 sizes the 250 which is a good size and the 400 (mine!) is an incredible size, especially when considering the weight. The awning has an extra front pole than the others I’ve been looking at, although it takes an extra 5-6 minutes to put up, the difference is brilliant, it gives it extra rigidity and strength, my caravan is more likely to blow over!
Overall I’m delighted with my awning, it looks modern and contemporary and I always have people asking me where I got it from and how much it was. It’s a bit of an eye turner!
