When I had one of these I used the Multi Mast upper arm which attaches to the pole then hooks onto the awning rail on the offside of the van then I used the Uni Bracket and plate at the bottom of the pole to attach that to the van itself. The only part that stays on the van is the sticky backed mounting plate, all else is removed for transit. I used this set up successfully for years. Have a gander at Grades web site and hopefully it will all makes sense as it is difficult to explain in words.

Weve got the same as Simon23, it sits on top of a 4 mtr pole and fastens to the A frame with a permanent U bolt fixing. Camping shops that sell the aerial also stock the poles and fixing. We have always had good reception with it.

We don't have a caravan but have a tent. However we do have a rather large trailer so do you reckon we would be OK to attach the pole to that?

i had problem with my tv once, so threw small ariel in the lake. >.< at home i got a big (like the one you put on top of a house) ariel from "wilkos". it comes in pieces (4parts) in the box. i stand the ariel pole on a piece of wood 1ft x 1ft so it dont fall over it takes 5min to put together, fasten it to pole, place it out side tent, plug it in, and bingo!!! when finished, i take it to bits and pack it away.
------------- im a happy camper!!

http://www.gradeuk.co.uk/products/accessories/masts.asp here is the Multi Mast that I mentioned earlier. I used that with the Uni bracket and plate further down the page. I felt it was less likely to be blown over or bent in the wind. Below the Multi Mast in the link is a drawing of it on the side of a van.

I use a "Shelley" clamp to atach my aerial mast to my jockey wheel. Clamp cost me £3 from a local electrical shop. Holds my 3mtr mast no probs. I use wing nuts in place of the original normal nuts as it means I don't need a spanner to fix it!

hi we too had the same problem with our aerial we bought an aerial with mast and clamps from ebay. Tried to screw the bolts to side of trailer and then found you could not move the aerial around. We then found a spare gazebo pole and slotted the aerial inside this and can now move around. Just been to weymouth and took tv and freeview no picture when connected to tv but then plugged freeview in and hey presto best picture we've ever had in 6 years camping and loads of channels too!!
£19;99 on ebay complete aerial and pole and fittings.
