I have borrowed a friends roof box but have since been able to pick up a cheap roof box for £40 second hand.  Having read many posts on roof boxes I was wondering which one would be the best to use.  I will be putting clothes, sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, etc.  The Auto-Plas has a clasp at the front to help secure it and the Halfords one doesn't.  I wasn't sure if it made a difference.

Having seen the horror stories on this forum I was wondering if I should secure it with an additional binding.

All suggestions will be gratefully received.

There would be no harm at all in putting an extra strap round it. Belt and braces, yup?

What horror stories??

Use a couple of straps round the boxes well just for peace of mind (came with ours)

If your box didn't come with straps then you can buy some from Halfords

they're hiding the horror stories from us!!

must be something to do with dracula the roof box and his friend Frankenstein roof rack...

As you want to make sure that none of the horrors actually escape from the box, as well as the additional straps it would be a good idea to have the odd stake handy for plunging into the heart of the living nightmare. The stakes that come with the colourful stripey windbreaks do the job well.
