Hi, we are having problems lighting out cadac. It is about 5 years old and is the large one on three legs with the silver pole in the middle. We have tried shielding it from the wind, cleaning out any blocked holes, changing gas/regulator etc. We get a small yellow flame in the silver pole but the flames never reach the top plate. We can hear alot of flickering/air sounds. Up unil now it has worked fine. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what the problem might be?
I haven't got this type of Cadac, but if you are getting a yellow flame it often means that you aren't getting enough air to burn the fuel. Not sure how this can happen though.
I would have tried everything you already have, but is the control knob actually turning the valve?
Phoned local camping shop (still waiting for cadac to reply) and they recon it could be a blocked jet so gonna try that. They stock them for 99p! I'm not sure about the sparking - i think we use a match to light it? Will let you know if we successful at the weekend! Thanks for all you help.
Hi i have two Cadacs - one old style like yours and one of the newer style with ignition. Not sure what you mean about flame in the silver pole as there should not be a flame there, the gas rises up through the pole and is ignited at the burner tips at the top of the silver pole. Sounds like something is blocked there. As above change / clean the jet and you may find it helps.
To generally prevent gas blowing out and a more blue flame then i use an inverted / chopped down 2 litre plastic coke style bottle and slide over the silver tube, This prevents gusts of wind blowing out the flames and still allows good airflow. Also i put some silver foil on the blue base and cover up SOME of the holes and again this still allows airflow but prevents gusts of wind blowing out the flames
Well we have sort of fixed the cadac problem! We took the silver pole apart and loads of water came out, replaced the jet with a new one and now get a good blue flame. However if we light it with the top burner/plate on the flames don't come out of the little holes at the top. We have to light the flame with the top on, then take the top off and put it back on to get the flames to come through the top burner. Can't quite work out why, and it looks rather dangerous when hubby has to take the top on and off and put it back on again with a huge blue flame coming out of the pole! If anyone has any further ideas they would be most welcome!
