Hi - Asda currently have solar powered garden lights at half-price - about 3.80. We hung one of these up in our tent and, although it isn't that bright, it was enough for my wife to change our nipper's nappy in the middle of the night. We hang it over the top of the inner tent and we can get changed at night without subjecting the site to a shadow show - we don't have to get out of the inner tent to turn it off neither. We found that leaving it outside during the day charged it enough to run right through to when we woke up the next morning. It's now part of our "essential" kit.
Been to asda earlier and saw the lights, i've got them in my garden but never thought about your idea but guess where i'll be going in morning ..... CHEERS
yep me and my sis were discussing this today....im gonna get some for putting outside my tent at night.
you can also get them in homebase if asda have run out 9.99 but they are buy one get one free....so they are a fiver each really.....and its 10% off next weekend!!
I've got a couple I bought 2 years ago - 2 for a tenner on our local market.
Very handy for illuminating the way in to the awning, esp. on sites with no lights like the farmers field we were on last week, avoids us trippng over pegs etc.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
i brought a couple of these 2 weeks ago. hubby thought i was mad but soon changed his mind after recognising our tent in the howling rain amongst all the other tents.
all he was concerned about was whether we might of had some planes coming in to land on us. lol

I've just bought 4 for our garden from homebase. I know it's sad, but I've told my little girl that the garden fairies are having a party. Must only drink when she's in bed from now on!!
Jules they will charge during normal daylight hours. I bought one from a local market at £3.50. Leave it on all night as a 'night light' inside the tent. Great when you need to find the 'bucket with a lid' in the spare bedroom.
We've had four solar lights in our garden for most of the summer. Started to see them being used on camp sites usually at the entrance to people's awnings and tents. A good idea - must get another couple for our next trip out.
Happy holidays
