Hi there

As my pile of camping gear is turning into a mountain before my eyes, I realise I need to purchase one of these - or a normal roofbox. I like the idea of the handiholdall as it can be stored easier than a conventional roofbox.

Does anyone have one? Are they as good as they look? Does anyone want to sell me one?

A

We have the rack and the holdall.

Since changing to cotton tents, we had to do something to find more space in our small car.

So we got the handi system and it is really good.

It is surprising how much stuff we can get in there !

Last time we used it in the rain it was waterproof.

This weekend we found we had a couple of damp cushions but we think that might have been because the zips were not closed tight.

I would recommend it, without it we would never get all our gear in and we are not glampers with excessive gear.

And no ours is not for sale lol

Well I'm guessing that as there's not floods of replies from people wanting to sell their's that it must be a good thing. Thanks Angie for your reply, I was worried about it being waterproof.

I am trying very hard to keep the gear down to a minimum, but my tent takes up most of my boot space... I only have a 5 door Ford Focus! And I really don't fancy a trailer. I also have an almost teenage daughter who pulled a very horrified face when I showed her the size of bag she has to pack her clothes etc in...!

Oh well, its all good fun!! 17

Hi Anthea

try your local Aldi for the handirack - they were on offer a few months ago but a few of the stores around here have them in the sale.  I picked a rack up for £19 but I have seen them in other stores for £25 ish so you could save yourself a few pound - so you might be lucky enough to pick one up.

We have put ours on the car but have not tried it out

Jeff

We have a small car too, a Fiat Punto !

And we also have large cotton pyramid tents so the packsizes on those are not small.

Hence the need for a handirack. We were quoted over €200 for roofbars and the rack and holdall cost us around €160 so it was cheaper.

Your teenage daughter will be thrillled when she can take more clothes when you see how much stuff you can actually get in the holdal lol

Hi Anthea if you can wait to buy a handirack till about friday i work near an Aldi and could pop in there to see if they have any left - they had 3 about 2 weeks ago and they were selling them for £25 and I think the postage for them is about £7.50 on a standard 3 - 5 day postage so it would cost less than anywere else but just depends how quick you want it and if they have any left

Jeff
