OK, this is a bit of an odd one.

We've been camping a couple of years now and are going for the 1st time to be using an EHU (camping with friends who always use them). So, I've bought my "proper" 3 plug adapter.

Um, what do people use them for? Other than running a TV and OH having a hair dryer, what do people use off their hookups? If OH would let me, I can think of no end of toys I could bring, but that kind of defeats the point of being in a tent...

We have EHU. We use it for a kettle (saves on gas, can be boiled inside the tent and quicker), a hairdryer, straighteners, a laptop for the kids to watch dvds, an electric fan for heating or cooling, battery chargers for camera, charging phones, cameras, nintendo ds etc, and lights. Think that's everything!

My compressor for inflating the sofa bed which I have to deflate the back of every night and reinflate in the morning.  DS charger and mobile phone charger and battery charger for torches.  I have never taken a hairdryer or anything else like that and I am not about to start now.

Having camped as a Guide and a Guider EHU is a luxury that we never have.  I thought it was great that we had a gas powered urn instead of having to boil water on the fire (we don't normally use gas either).

We cook using it as well as all the above, saves on gas. Only get EHU for longer trips though.

Nice set up!!

We have a husky fridge, travel kettle, hair dryer, lights, fairy lights for day tent, air pump for beds, battery charger, phone charger.

OH takes our little travel tv and a set of headphones.

Last week bought an oven like the one in pic, but I thought the bottom and top got too hot so he's taken it to work to cook hot lunch now ( well warm his pies and pasties)

Similar here, coolbox, light, heater, kettle (not at the same time as the heater), phone charger, laptop, hair dryer etc...

I got a 4-plug roller mains unit this year, made by SunnCamp, and managed 5 days without the need to hook up the spare 3-plug rectangular one. I was on my own though.

Once you have EHU, you would not want to go without!

We take our hook up whenever we can, but will rough it on occasion if no electric pitches. left

We use ours like everyone else, phone/DS charging, kettle, we also take a little toaster, lights, fridge and definitely the fan heater.

You forgot the iron.

I use EHU for the fridge or coolbox, a light, the car DVD player when we use it inside and for charging up phones/camera batteries/the laptop. I used to take a hairdryer too before I grew my hair long.

However....I can also do all of the above without EHU if I can't get hook-up. The fridge can run on gas, lighting is easy, I cook exclusively on gas anyway and we can charge just about everything else from the car 12v socket. Being dependant on EHU really limits you when you're trying to book pitches, especially at holiday weekends. You can almost always get a non-electric pitch even at the last moment, while the EHU pitches can be booked solid moths in advance. And you can't use the big non-electric camping fields either, which can be a problem if you've got a really big tent and can't fit on a standard pitch. I'd rather go non-electric than pay for two pitches.
