Hiya for my 2 kids (5 &3) I have just bought them campbeds from Argos they are around £8, I have just got myself a Coleman comfort airbed, you can buy a double version of this and it has seperate chambers so if one persongets of or on the airbed the other isn't launched into air!

I have used air beds and didn't like them. They were extremely cold as they draw the cold from the ground. There were some nights I wasn't sure if the pillow and sleeping bag were damp, they were that cold....mind you we didn't have all the matress fleece etc. But I prefer not having to carry all that. The kids played on them and busted some of the chambers so they were lumpy, plus the constant reinflating problem (I gather the Coleman is non leaking though). We now have self inflating (foam) mats - Outwell double- I love these!! They are so comfy, and are self insulating. I put a cheap fleece blanket on top under the sheet ( I take my quilt), and sleep like a baby!
I bought a double airbed from Tesco (about £8) and one of their electric pumps. Slept very well on it, though a word or caution, you may not be able to inflate a double airbed outside and then get it into the tent. I used a 12V battery connected to the electric pump to get round that and inflate the bed in the tent.
I did get a little cold on the airbed, but nothing a couple of blankets didn't solve, and its far nicer than a ground mat.
great bed, got mine for under £20 with free delivery from amazon
