Hello - new to boards so got a quick question

Bought a load of camping gear last autumn with plans to go camping this year.  HIt a snag in that the double inflatable airbed I bought aggravates an old back problem ( damaged disc).  Now I only spent 1 night on it in my back garden trying it out (thought best to before relying on it for several days).  Anyone recommend something else to try out.  Looked at ex mod camp beds but seem a lot of money from people like anchor supplies.  Anyone else suffer from bad backs and still manages to enjoy camping ?  Looks like whatever I get is going to mean wife sleeps on something different to me.

any advice apprecaited

I suffer with my back and I find a self inflating mat on top of a camp bed works very well for me.  I can managed on the self inflating mat alone if its just for a couple of nights.

Hi I suffer from 4 slipped discs and damaged vertebrae I am also looking into air beds vs camp beds with a memory foam topper. I slept last night on the camp bed and decided that it was too saggy and not supportive enough so after reading all the threads and reviews I am going to purchase an aerobed. I emailed aerobed to find out the best support for me and they told me the quadracoil was the most supportive. The quadracoil is only in the platinum range and the explorer camping bed. Theres an offer on at the moment and the explorer single is £79.99 but it won't accept the discount code on top of this already discounted item so I am at the mo deliberating and looking to see if I can one cheaper somewhere so if any one already knows let me know!

I should mention that if you get a bad back then the cold from an airbed will affect you very badly so no matter how good the airbed you need to get some good insulation below the bed and above between you and the bed. There are lots of ideas on here which I have found and will be trying them out in due course but in our trailer tent I used a silver backed roll mat on the base then put my memory foam topper with a silver backed picnic rug and a fleece blanket above. We are downsizing now to quechua seconds tents as weve had enough of pitching it and want something easier hence us looking for something to sleep on.

Good luck I would love to know how you get on.

Hi

Ok I have had loads of problems with air beds and getting a good nights sleep as well as the back pains and having tried loads of different beds I have now found the answer.

Its an Intex Deluxe Frame, there is also the Comfort Frame as well. www.only-airbeds.co.uk. They are not cheep but they are without a doubt the best bed you will find as they come in two parts, A: the frame and B: the mattress, this gives you the ability to alter the air pressure between the two halves and get the perfect level of support that you need. Basically its the same as a sprung divan bed. Ours has never lost air even during longer trips and unlike standard all in one beds this does not sag at the edges or launch the other person across the bed when the other gets in or out and I am not a small chap.

The only negative is that you need to check the size against your tent as they are only available in queen size and that is the mattress size not the overall bed size.

If it fits your tent you wont be disappointed, I never want to get up in the mornings and to give you an idea as to how good it is we sold our tents and got new ones to accommodate the bed !!

Gary
