I know to some this will be blatantly obvious...
The campsite we're going to this summer (our first camping trip) say you can only use breathable ground sheets; now under the main body of the tent what difference will it make as surely the tent will stop any air getting to the grass anyway?

We're going to get a breathable sheet for the "Porch" section of the tent anyway as the ground sheet for that isn't breathable.
thanks
Alan

I had this for a site I stayed on in May. Was given a breathable groundsheet to use but on the pitch we had the grass was dead before we even got there.

I understand from reading many posts on here that the breathable groundsheet rule only applies to caravan awnings/porches and not tents as most tents now have sig's in lounge area and the bedroom pods are all sewn in.

When the rules stipulate breathable groundsheets, it can't reasonably be applied to tents with sewn-in groundsheets or any sleeping areas in tents, which have to be waterproof.

The rule is more for caravan awnings and the like. Given the difference it will make, I wouldn't worry about a new groundsheet for your porch. Perhaps phone the site and check for your own peace of mind?

Cheers guys
I might give them a ring but by the sounds of it, I shouldn't worry too much about it

Alan
