I was hoping that I could double check something - I have bought a Campingaz Stove which is rated to run on either the 904/907 Campingaz (butane/propane)....
Now I already have an unused 13kg almost full Calor Patio Gas bottle with a regulator - can I just use this? I know that a 13kg bottle is not going to be that 'handy' to lug about...but it seems silly to exchange a full bottle and have to pay for a smaller one.
I am concerned about gas flow rates and whether the supplied campingaz hose will be strong enough. I can't seem to find the ratings in the instructions.
As long as you have the correct regulator for the 13Kg bottle just connect the hose and off you go, just swap it for a more easily transportable 4.5Kg when it's empty
As above. You'll be fine.
The gas hose supplied with the stove won't be a problem. The gas pressure is lowered by the regulator, and the stove only draws off however much gas it needs, so the pressure and flow rate won't be a problem. :)
Rather than exchanging the empty cylinder for a 4.5kg butane cylinder as suggested, you could always exchange it for a 5kg patio gas cylinder. It's more expensive, but it means you wouldn't have to have two different cylinders. All depends if you've got a use for the cylinder at home and for camping/caravanning.
You cannot exchange any Calor cylinder for a Camping Gaz one. If you want a small cylinder immediately, you will either need to buy one, or go to your tip and see if they have any.
You can also pick up Camping Gaz cylinders on Freecycle and e bay.
