Unable to light our stove:  The pump action is very loose and there is very little resistance;  despite pumping hundreds of times there is no build up of pressure at all;  there is no fuel coming through to the burners;  can hear no sound of fuel coming through.  Any suggestions?
It is a recent second hand purchase and was supposed to be extremelly reliable and only used half a dozen times.  User error or duff purchase?

Have you got your finger over the little hole on the pump ???

It is at the end of the plunger, pump whilst holding your thumb over the hole, then after the required number of pumps, still with your finger over the hole, screw it down.

You then should lift the light lever up, hold a lit flame on the burner, then turn on fuel quickly, it should then light, and after 1 minute turn the lighting lever down, you should have a blue looking flame, just as a gas burner.

I recently had problems with pressure and it turned out I wasn't turning the pump enough, I just turned it till it stopped instead of all the way round as the instructions state on the lid. So, no pressure was going in.

Been there, done that, still no joy unfortunately.  Thanks anyway.  The inside of the filling hole is gungy, as is the end of the generator nozzle.  We're wondering if perhaps its blocked.  The seller said it had only been used half a dozen times.  Its in good condition which is what you would expect with that usage.  Should the resistance increase when pumping as the pressure builds or does it always feel loose and easy to pump?  And before you ask the obvious, yes there is some fuel in the tank!

After around 25 pumps it will start getting more difficult to push in because of the pressure.

Hope that someone can help, they really are a great stove.

If you search for coleman dual fuel cookersl, im sure that you may find more info, including a link showing you how to dismantle and clean them.

Even if the stove has not been used much it may be a bit gummed up if it was stored with fuel in it. May need strip & clean.

Try putting some soapy water (bubbles) around the valve, pump, end of nozzle ,any joints really to see if any pressure is escaping as you pump ( assuming as above, you're using pump correctly).

If you find a problem maybe these will be of some use.

might help:

http://www.coleman.com/coleman/faq/faqreturn.asp?question=2

IME if pressure isn't building up in the tank (yes it should get harder after a bit, and if you open the filler cap you should hear the hiss of the pressure releasing) then it's normally the pump plunger.

Remove the plunger by turning the black plastic bit at the top of the pump 'tube' - probably need pliers, and pill it up.

If it's like mine there is a plastic circulr cup on the end of the pump piston that seals against the tube - sometimes this would stop sealing well enough - I found pushing it back out a bit solved the problem - not to much or it won't go back in. t also needs regualr lubrication through the hole in the top of the black bit at the top of the pump tube.

Eventually this split though, I then replaced it with a leather cup e.g.

THe leather needs oiling once a year or so to keep it supple - I guess the best thing would be to use a proper leather oil such as Neatsfoot oil, but I just use whatevewr is handy - vegetable oil, or a dab of margarine or butter worked in seems to work fine

sounds like the washers had it to me ,cheap and easy to fit.
theres little to go wrong in colemans or any other pressure stove.
the biggest cause of grief in small dual fuels is a blocked generator the suitcase type ones don't have them in the stove but on the tank so they can be inspected easier.

your local camping shop will have spares! if not its not a camping shop
