I've just got back from a trip to Go Outdoors with just a pack of tent pegs. I can't believe it but I think we finally have everything we need or have room for. We could upgrade a few things but we can't really justify it.
I should be pleased that we are fully equipped but I can't help feeling a little sad, I have enjoyed scouring carboot sales and searching the net for bargains.
Well, more tent pegs are always a good buy! And you're sure to find you need something else soon. I got to the point that if I didn't need anything I would wait till I wanted gas or something before I visited my (now sadly closed) camping emporium because I hated to walk out empty handed, lol.
hehe, well done you!
We're going into our new Yeomans in Gainsborough today.
It's only a small indoor store and won't sell much (hubby has glanced at it from outside and says there's a lot of clothing in there) but I'm sure we'll come back with something we (don't) need
The words 'kid in a candy store' come to mind, don't they? LOL
------------- Mum to two boys - 17 and 14 yrs.
Seasoned campers in the UK up to 2010 when we moved to Portugal and back again in 2015. Now using a campervan which we converted ourselves in 2016.
Wonder how long it will be before you just can't resist upgrading something or adding one more thing. If you're anything like me it will be days rather than weeks.
Maybe upgrade means higher price! as we all know its a tin tent and some people (NOT ALL) to look down on us tent people as well as Trailer tent people.
Sorry shed63 to also digress.
But as you say you never have enough items the more you have the more you want, we have been camping for many years and still cant walk past a camping shop, just in case.

Well, I suppose a few things might get broken this year and we really have had the cheap plastic crockery for a long time and we have had the sleeping bags for 5 years so we could perhaps do with upgrading to washable ones...
Ok... so I meant that we have got all we need for this year....roll on the sales!
I think it's amazing that you went to Go Outdoors and managed to come out with only tent pegs. We've been known to go there for tent pegs and come out with a new tent ( pre credit crunch of course! ) Its the same phenomenon as going to Ikea for wooden spoon and coming out with a new bed!
We bought a cooker stand about 12 months ago, decided it wasn't sturdy enough so upgraded to a sturdier one, then decided that we really need more work surface when cooking so upgraded again to a bigger one with worktops and shelves
The point? Once you have everything it's time to upgrade to better stuff, it never stops
