It has to have at least 2 rooms and in separate compartments, not just dividers, plenty room for a living space, basic enough to put up, cause Im blond    and can't follow Chris instructions very well    Colour has to be light/pale to reflect any heat.

www.outdoorworld.co.uk/khyam-seattle-tent-p-1594.html

Im having probs trying to post the image, what chance do I have buying a sensible tent

The Khyam looks OK but I haven't seen one in the flesh.

Have you got somewhere that you can go and look at tents? You really can't beat, poking around them and working out how you would use the space etc. etc.

No the only shop I know that has a good range of tents on display is Millets

This country can be a bit backward at times

See that tent I'm interested in, well the package is extremely similar to the "Tesco kite" with 4 guy ropes

It was a 6 birth tent with 4 ropes like dental floss lmao

This is what we have settled for. I want an 8 birth, but Chris only wants 4-6.

Even though we only have 2 kids ya just never know what's round the corner

We always go with crowds of chums too and I like to have the room in case there ever too many and not enough room, however as he is the one who does most of the labour, then I guess I should compromise.

Haven't actually paid for it, I want to get all you views and opinions on it first.

Linky

If the sleeping inner is really only 180cm long that's pretty short...

OK another link here both sleeping areas are only 180cm long and that is presumably with a significant slope so you may have usable space that is shorter again than that?

I'm only 5ft 3 and I doubt that I could sleep comfortably in a 180cm pod, our Elzas is 205cm and that feels a bit short by the time you've got a pillow.

You could sleep across the pod but given the slope of the sleeping pod I think the person on the outside would be right up against the fabric and you'd have to climb over one another to get out.

Hi Mrs Storm. Pay a bit more and get one of these Khyam Kansas 8 from Outdoor Megastore.

Bascially it's the same tent but about a meter longer. It was and is still my first tent. Up in 20 mins and another 20 to peg out and put the pods in. Loads of standing room and the eight bedroom are big enough. Myself and my wife have the big pod to our selves and our clothes, and we've had two adults with an inflatable double bed in a single pod comfortably. That leaves the third pod to store everything else. The main area is big enough for a table and four chairs. Make sure you get the footprint ground sheet for it and if you have the pennies then the carpet is brilliant.

We've had this tent in Cornwall in gale force storms and torrential rain. It rocked as expected but we all woke up dry and the tent none the worse for wear.

Have to agree, we have this tent and love it, have the carpet and the sun porch and there is so much room and is lovely and cosy when cold and wet outside.

Cheers guys for all the honest advice.

After taking all on board the only issue that has come up is the size of the sleep areas. We would always sleep the other way any way and always have done.

As long as it comes from a good reputable manufacturer and can with stand a bit of wind and rain, then I am content.

We actually went out yesterday along the coast checking out many of the more local camp-site's and decided to go to Glenariff, Waterfoot and Ballycastle. Even tested out one of the restaurants and pubs and it all gets

so hopefully have this new tent and head of for the weekend in just under a fortnight.

Na there are no decathlon stores in this neck of the woods. Unfortunately when you live in Northern Ireland, you dont get anywhere near the decent selection you guys in England get. And whats worse, when ever we buy something thats coming from across the water, the pile extra £££££££££££s on to. We get ripped off over here

I bought the tent, new air-bed and water-carrier from "The great outdoors" web-site. My order was well over £100 and meant to be free delivery, but sure they stuck £27 on it. Sure its the same postal service "Royal Mail"

Mrs Storm, there are tent shops here with displays better than Millets (which wouldn't be too hard), the Scout shop in Belfast have some in shop but they hold a display day in the grounds of RBAI opposite where you will see a huge range, once a year maybe twice.

Also http://www.lpctents.com/ in Bangor do a good range.  Old Mill caravans in Ballymoney, and Downshire in Banbridge.  There are plenty of tent shops in Northern Ireland you just need to look for them.  Most tent manufacters will list dealers, there will be local ones.  The masses will go to Millets, Argos, Tesco, Asda etc but if you are after a named brand then do your  homework and find a tent shop.  We are not so back water here as you think!

We had a tent delivered from The Great Outdoors in May for our daughter, a Vango Swift.  It cost £99 and was free delivery to here (back then it was free over £75).  Unless they have changed their policy I would ring and ask why you were charged!  They do not use Royal Mail but a courier.

Most tent shops here will order the model you are after at no extra charge to you, and you will have the personal back up of the store.

Wendy

Well apart from Millets there are two camp shops in Junction one, but they only had kids working in it.

I only have a limited time to get a tent before we are due to head off on another wee excursion.

The only research I have done from last week is come on here and as most of the other members seem to be from England, the shops they have mentioned are not here. (That I am aware of)

Any of the web-sites I got quotes from ALL charged me extra for postage, just as T.P. toys did, when I bought a climbing frame last month.

But I will enquire about that, cause I am fed up with additional charges constantly added on
