We are do to go to Brittany for our summer holiday. I would like to be able to catch the news rather then pay for an expensive newspaper. What sort of radio would I need?
I imagine you'd be able to pick up R4 on 198kHz LW in Brittany as well. Although for the next few weeks, that will mean a lot of cricket between 11 and 6:30.
I remember Atlantic 252!! The reason I asked about radio signals in france is that I don't want to drag a satelite system over as I want to get away from TV, but I do like to hear that "English" This is the BBC News at 6:00pm and then the bong of good old big ben!! It would be the only thing I would miss if I left England....but that is another thread!! Thanks to all for your help
198 LW is Radio 4 you need never miss the goings on in Ambridge again.
648 AM is normally the world service.
You can normally pick up english AM stations in most places, if not take your beloved for a picnic on the top of a steep hill, you will definatly get a signal then.
It does give that info on the website but and I could be wrong (it has happened before) I think they made a mistake as I don't think such frequency exists, I thought AM started around the 500 mark.
Just for a different angle: I'm off to the Vendee in August and currently looking into buying a PAYG Sim over there. If I do, then radio will be over the net.
