lots of sites will not let you use a home made one now..

do not risk lifes buy a real one like this:

shame because it was on offer last week for £29.99

But agreed, unfortunately you need a proper set up, rather than modifying the caravan one (it has breakers etc built in)

You can always use the caravan one as an extension though as it will fit fine to the ehu

Don't do it.  The caravan has an earth leakage circuit breaker, overload circuit breakers & is waterproof.  If you do this you'll have no protection from electric shock, or fire in the event of a fault.  A camping EHU will set you back around £50 with all the safety features you need - like the one probertslot reccomends above  Look HERE..

Agree with above posters.  There's loads of threads about EHU cables if you do a search.  get the proper thing - as someone said some sites won't allow made up jobbies anyway.  better safe than sorry.  We bought an EHU unit some years ago and it cost £70...but you can get them much cheaper than this...there are some offers around I think at the moment.

Reminds me - we had to laugh last year when a family turned up with an ordinary extension lead...plug at one end and socket at the other.  The poor chap was most bemused that he couldn't plug this in on site !  The site owner sent him accross to us as he knew we had the proper thing...so he came over, had a look and set straight off to the nearest camping shop to get same !
