This year, I have packed my clothes flat for a 2 week holiday in a large blue Ikea bag. This was a tip I got from on here. Fantastic. Taking up hardly any room, can lay things on top (nicely pressed) and you can instantly see where your clothes are. I don't know who suggested it but it's a brilliant idea all round.
Depends on how long you going for, and what you plan to do I guess. I take the minimum with me for short trips and still seem to bring back loads that i haven't worn. We pack two small hold-alls and push them behind the seats - there always seems to be space there. With regards to the tent, I have considered getting one of those clothes airers that you can buy for about a tenna at the local supermarket. They go flat in the car and then you can open up and hang your stuff on that if you need to. I usually stuff dirty things into a plastic bag, that way I know what to wash when I get home rather than everything.
I pack our clothes into roll bags that I bought from QVC. They're brilliant. You just roll them up and squeeze all the air out and it packs them down really small. We use a few different ones and then push them into the nooks and crannies left in the boot/back seat.
Once we're there then I put dirty washing into a pop up washing basket that I bought online for a couple of quid. I then take that home just as it is - because it's squishy it can be forced into whatever small space there is left in the car!
I take a trolley case with me, keep the clean clothes inside, dirty clothes scattered on the bedroom floor!

We have a caravan, and use the wardrobe, but when we go for a long break I use the clear plastic boxes with clip on lids. You can see what is inside and they stack on top of each other and everything stays dry
I use a very squishy holdall I've had for years. I seperate the undies and sox into brightly coloured carrier bags. I always put the nightwear and toiletry bag and towels into a large washing net inside it so we can yank it out before it gets dark. I only take things that don't crease. Fleeces, hats, raincoats all go in a big Tesco blue bag and then into a vaccum bag that I just sit on till its squashed nearly flat. I take a bin liner to chuck all the washing in, that lands straight in front of the washer when we get home.
squashy holdall goes in the trailer,
i always pack tops at one side, bottoms at the other, socks and undies in a nylon bag in the middle.
dirty stuff goes in a small stuffsack which can be dumped in the laundry on return home.
shoes in plastic bags are used at fillers between stuff in the trailer.
(i don't have much room in the car once the dogs are in)
Dont panic we dont go there .... and if we did there would be complaints from the misses that I look more creased than if I had clothing on that had been screwed up in a carrier bag for weeks !!
No we use a large Outwell holdall (Go Outdoors £19.00) which has 2 internal dividers and 5 very good size pockets, everything folded and laid in the bag neatly serves us well ..... just dont ask me to pack it !! Then all the grubby stuff goes in a stuff sack .... I can handle that bit.

------------- Dont dream your life, live your dream, or just go down the pub !!
We just use holdalls, socks & pants go into large food bags to keep them separate, dirty washing just go's in a plastic bag and then back into holdall at end of holiday. The best thing we have for the kids though is a 'gym sac' this serves as a pj case and toy case and keeps all their bits and peices together in the bedroom and on the car journey they have their juice and stuff in it it hangs over the headreast of the front seats so they can get access to it whenever they want! I was fed up looking for the ds charger or some dolly!

We started of with a suite case, but have ended up now with quite a bit of the clothes (fleeces/jumpers/hoodies) in the car being used for sitting on and pillows for the kids
