Hi again,

On our first camping trip back in june we all went cycling, along with our jack russell. Now, he was fine going, but coming back my hubbie had to carrie him in his arm (whilst still cycling), as he was shattered. So im looking to buy either a front handlebar basket or bike trailer, but seen as though weve just bought a new tent (outwell georgia L) dont want to spend alot. Ive searched ebay, but still expensive! Has anybody any ideas as to where i can buy one suitable for dog on the cheap, and i would be very interested on what people do with there dogs whilst cycling.??

Surely it cant just be our dog that gets too tired on the way back?

Look forward to any ideas/suggestions  Thank you

There is a good range of bike baskets on Amazon. We have one for our Cairn and he sits quite happily in a deep basket on the handlebars with his harness and lead tied to them in case he spots a cat 17

Forgot to add that you can also buy backpacks for dogs which might be a good way of carrying a small dog when you are on your bikes. I saw them on ebay when Alfie had an operation on his leg but we decided he might be a bit heavy to carry on our backs. Ideal for a JR though.

Thanks for the suggestion Magicaly, do you have a wicker or wire basket? I didnt think either would be as comfy as say, a material kind! The trouble we go to for our pets!!lol

Ours is wicker and is a bit like the first wicker one on the Amazon list except we paid an arm and a leg for it from a wicker craftsman in Norfolk. We line ours with one of those cheap pet fleeces and Alfie has never complained of being uncomfortable!!!! One of the reasons we go camping ( soon to be caravanning) is so that Alfie can come with us and be included in everything we do.

As I mentioned in your other thread, I use a Trixie Walking/Cycling lead, wear it around the waist, so that Borda can run along the bike while I can cycle with both hands on the handle bar. It is good exercise for both of us.
