Hi

We have a Royal Bordeaux 6zg xl tent (large tunnel), which is 7 metres x 5 metres, we have used the tent twice with the standard wire tent pegs supplied successfully, however on both occassions we have had some high winds, and I was abit worried, OH was not bothered, that with the tent being so large that the high winds would pull out the tent pegs and either damage or blow away the tent with us in it. We have looked at the delta pegs, and rock pegs but not sure which to go for, if we went for the delta pegs which ones would we choose?

Thanks

caris

If possible you should get both, as delta pegs might be difficult to get into stoney ground. You should definitely not use the skewer pegs on the main guys as they will pull out in high winds!!

We have an Outwell Idaho tent and it came with 2 different types of pegs. Some blue plastic ones and some metal ones with a hook on one end (sorry don't know the technical names).

We are fairly new to camping and have absolutely no idea which pegs should be used where?? What are delta pegs and rock pegs?? Do we need them??

We have a bag full of a range of different pegs from throughout the years.

We tent to peg the tent out with rock pegs no matter what the ground is like and then use the yellow Delts pegs for the guys. I'm thinking of getting the metal Deltas for using on stoney ground though.

As for the pegs the new Outwells come with (which we never used) I think the blue ones are for pegging out the tent and the thin alu ones are for the groundsheet for the porch area (that's what we are presuming from what came with our Michigan).

We have large tents and have so far used Delta`s on the main guys and canopy, excellent! They just don`t budge. We are about to invest in rock pegs as off to site with hard ground and like has been said the yellow/grey Deltas aren`t designed for hard ground.

Delta pegs are widely used when there are high winds - they look like this and come in yellow and grey.  Have a search for delta pegs on here - there are loads of posts about them and I think you can get a discount also

Rock pegs are used for hard ground or when you have to pitch on hard standing, they look like this and come in various sizes and types.  You'll need a claw hammer to get them in and to remove them.
