HI,

We have a sunncamp double burner and grill, using a camping gaz907 bottle, this is big enough for what we need, but its soooo slow. Whats the best cooker to get, that can boil water fast?

We used EHU and a travel kettle last camping trip, cup of water in 2 minutes! Is there anything without EHU that comes any where near this?

Or should I stop being impatient and chillout. ;-)

Hi
Everything seems takes longer when you are camping and for me that's part of it.
However, look at the stove's output, (usually in Watts) to give you an idea of how powerful a stove is.
My coleman gets hot as my stove at home.

HI,

... cup of water in 2 minutes! ....

You might think this daft, but a genuine Trangia meths burner (not the ex army oval jobbies) would be very close to that time for a cup of water.
Things will get slower with more water to boil, but for just a cup, the Trangia can be quick.
All naked flame stoves suffer in the wind (except the Trangia, which actually burns hotter in a breeze), so to improve boil times, use a decent wind shield around your stove.

Actually, I have the oppostite problem. When I'm frying sausages I can't get the flame low enough without it going out. As a result, anything larger than a chipolata is likely to be over-done on the outside before it's done on the inside.

Mine is the Campingaz with grill. But I have the same problem with the suitcase burners.

spudz - Ah yes the old faithful trianga, I suppose I really want a pot of water not a cup and from memory triangas take about 25 minutes to warm up beans, great  for back packing though.

The coleman pureflow looks promising, but having forked out for 2X 907 campinggaz bottles I'm loathed to just sell 'em again. I suppose the 907's only supply so much fuel per second so changing the cooker won't speed it up much on the same fuel?

I often find coleman fuel hard to get, even for the blackcat heater, but its worth keeping an eye out for.

The fastest camping cookers, from the point of view of time between deciding to put the kettle on, and having a full flame ready for the kettle, are certainly gas cookers.
Open gas supply, apply a lit match, pop! full flame.

This does not however mean that they are the fastest boilers.
There are many liquid fuelled camping stoves that have much faster boil times for a given quantity. As mentioned, the Coleman double burner (main burner at least); my old Optimus #45 or #111 paraffin stove would put even a Coleman to shame however.
The problem with liquid fuelled stoves though is the time needed to prime the burner. This can be anything up to 3-4 minutes, depending on the burner size. Personally, I'm not too bothered by this prime time, as it allows me to prepare other stuff, and any way, I'm on me holidays, camping under canvas, where's the hurry?
6 of one and half dozen of another!

Obviously, for cooking a full meal, a Trangia is going to be very slow going, but for a quick brew, it can be quicker than many, more powerful liquid fuelled stoves. Good lighting technique is important however.

Either way, a decent wind shield will improve the performance of any camping stove.

p.s. Trouble finding Coleman fuel? Have a look for Aspen 4T, a cleaner fuel than even Coleman and much, much cleaner than unleaded.

I have a small cannister stove and I have a full kettle boiled in 6 mins (I timed it last time). I think I have read that these stoves are hotter than the double burners?
