Well, I don`t think it`s `illegal` per se, but then again it`s not illegal to stick your damp fingers in an electrical socket either.

But I wouldn`t recommend or advise either..........

I have actually seen someone using one though. Even when the owner of the site told her it wasn't right and she could damage her stuff and to come and see what a proper one was like (she didn't bother) - and she was planning to go to France this summer with it!!
The owner said his electrics were new and it would just cut out and not ruin the sites electrics but it would ruin her laptop and George grill.

Most campsites will not let you use them, so for the sake of saving a few pounds, it really is not worth it and of course I would not even want to consider the implications if that got wet and caught fire!!
