We have been camping on the same airbed for years, it was a really expensive one and unfortunitly it has now got a leak, there is no white powder on the bed to indicate where the leak is. How can we find out how to repair it, we also have an argos airbed that is pathetic, it has huge bulges and not that comfy. Would really like to repair the old one but it is imposibble to identify where the leak is coming from..
Or does anyone have any advice on getting a new one that has really tough material and not Argos crap.
Could you check by inflating it and testing it in a full bath (dont know if its a double or single!) using the same principal as checking a inner tube iyswim! where the bubbles come from in the water is where the leak is...
Is it a rubberised cotton airbed? You might be able to get a repair kit from a camping shop or use a bike puncture repair kit perhaps.
Thanks for your response, it is a double airbed which has thick rubberised cotton, we thought about the bath, but the leak is such a slow puncture that it doesn't seem to show up even in a bath. I thought about pumping perfum into it.
Posted this on another thread about air beds, dont know if it works as I have not tried it myself. Got chatting with a guy on a site and he said he fixed his air bed with a tube of Mountain bike Slime, its a tyre sealer. Apparently you can get it in Halfords, empty the bottle into the bed, blow the bed up and give it a shake and the slime then finds the leak and seals it as it does in a bicycle tyre. Sounds like it could work and must be worth a try ?
Good luck

We’ve spent a fortune on different kinds of airbeds over the years (not including various self-inflating mats etc) I got so fed up with waking up with a creaky back even though I don’t suffer from this at home that I got an Aerobed this year. It is brilliant . The price put me off initially but the Aerobed website was offering certain models at half price. The pump is really great (rechargeable and can be run off the car battery) and inflates the mattress in an incredibly short time. It deflates very rapidly via a large valve. The version I have doesn’t have a flock cover but I use an old fleece blanket to cover the mattress anyway. I guess by this time you’ve probably made your choice but if not I would really recommend this.
