I've not used one but have seen them. Those small gas canisters are not the most economical source of gas but then you would have the advantage that if one ran out the other burner would still work.
But I would go for one that uses one larger cylinder.
Thanks for your response. Can't find any reviews and not many camping shops sell them. Got portable cookers but need a good cooker to feed a family of 5!
Going away on Friday so will have to get my skates on!
I've got the Campingaz with grill which I run off a 907 (though, as long as you have the correct regulator, you can use calor gas instead). However the grill is massively underused: it's too small to grill sausages and bacon for more than a couple. So it just gets used for toast, and there are other ways of doing that.
Don't forget that you've got Outdoor Megastoor in, I think, Bootle. I've never been but I believe it's big!! Have a look around. And there's a Go Outdoors in Wigan. Have a look round in those places.
To be honest the Gelert Economy at Outdoor Megastore would probably suffice. However, for five of you you may wish to consider adding a third burner in the form of a suitcase burner. In fact, many just use two or three of these but, again, it's not the more econoical source of gas.
Don't forget that you will want either a sturdy table or a camp kitchen (stand) to place the burners. Choose carefully if you are going for a kitchen - some are not very stable.
I have to say the canisters are economical, if you buy a pack of 12 off ebay they are less than £15, against a small campingaz bottle not sure which model that costs me £17 to exchange. Both option have the same amount of gas, only the canisters i find are handy instead of space for a heavy gas bottle. Double burner stove with useless grill £39 gaz bottle £36 deposit £17 refill pipe and regulator total nearly £100. 3 canister stoves £6.99 each 12 canisters £15 total £36 less weight and far less room needed in the car.
The celebrity chefs use them for cooking out side on tv programmes so they are more than sufficient, each ring is 2.5 Kwatts and a canister lasts about 8 hours burning time.

Thanks. It was the convenience of using canisters and an almost weightless cooker that got me interested. Got to get it right otherwise you are spening a lot of money - average price is £37.99. The legs on the duo just fold underneath the two burners and away you go. The canisters are self sealing (if thats the right term) so perfectly safe once they are packed away.
Got everthing else except the new cooker. Still working on my other half to treat me to a canopy!
We have just bought one and like it so far - only tried it out today at home. It's very compact and seems quite powerful.
Only drawback is its quite tall so wouldn't be very good on a camping kitchen, more of an on the ground outside/cooker, and we were just discussing how we need to get something as a windshield - possibly a fishing umbrella???
it seems pretty good though :)
We paid £36 online with free P+P ( try google search)
Thanks. It is quite tall. I hadn't thought of a windshield! Just bought a ex display kitchen thing but it doesnt have the shields round the side (hence a cheaper price). I have bought a portable windshield but it wont be tall enough. Not sure what we could use.
Where did you get the canisters from and what price?
