I know not everyone's a fan of G.O., or of the cards, but they do have some good offers sometimes. The latest mailing shows they're having a summer sale Mon 10/08 comm 09.00.
I'm hoping they're repeating the Delta EHU offer at £29.99 which I missed last time
We went to the Bristol Go Outdoors over the last weekend & I'm convinced they removed a lot of stock from display for the sale period. Could be me because everything we went for was non existant. Even the shelf labels were gone.
Very good store though with massive choice of stock although I don't feel they manage their outside tent display very well. Lots of them were soaking inside & one had a huge tear along the zip at the entrance, perhaps someone had tripped on it but I expected it to have been addressed to keep things looking tiptop.
Do you wait until you go to the cashout to buy the £4 card or do you purchase it as you go in & present it at the till when you pay?? We've only ever bought the odd thing there but were going to be spending £200 plus had they had stocks last weekend so the card would have been a must.
I think if G O took away that silly £4 card scheeme - they would see a steep rise in sales - as many folk just see it as a marketing con - its missleading.
Hi BB,you can do both,we bought our tent last week and just got the card at the same time as buying the tent at the checkout, they usually ask first if you have a card anyway just tell them you want one.
The card system is no different to that operated by Macro, Costco etc, a means to get some cash upfront and get your address on their database. I've saved it many times over and have no objection to it.

We went to g-o yesterday and despite getting the leaflet saying the sale starts on the 10th everything was at the 'sale' price already. ( at Wakefield branch) ....its always hit and miss as to what is good value and they do muck around with the prices a lot.... but I cant complain. I got my dd a fleece base layer set for £5.99 bargain!! and you cant argue with the Vango Venture 500 tent for £69.99 either! (even if they where selling it for £59.99 in June) still good value imho. As I go quite often I find the £4 card well worth the money based on savings I have made over the years .

I went to the Wigan GO stores when the last sale was on. I was after the zenobia (Which they had none) they also had plenty of shelf space!. No cooler bags, Chairs, Lamps and various other stuff that was on sale. I also suspect they were holding back as i went 3 times that week!
The current promotion is "Half Price" on some items, and I think today they threw in free delivery. The "Summer Sale" from 10/08 is apparently something different. They do do these agressive marketing offers and at the end of the day you've got to look at the actual price and decide if the item is good value and suits your needs, rather than the theoretical saving on a supposed "RRP".
That said, they've previously had some real bargains from time to time eg the 3 way EHU's (both 3 inline sockets and the Delta type) they've done at £29.99 and I'll be up early 10/08 to see what that week's offers are
stuff isn't held back. sometimes things are 'when gone they are gone'!! offers are great all year round so get things when in stock. I wouldn't wait until the sale.
Have spent a fortune in my local one this year alone and no doubt will be spending more before the year if out.
