Im new to camping with a lot of stuff now we have a 2 year old and was worried about not fitting it all in the car, bought some vacum bags for this one trip and may invset in some better ones, got them from home bargains £1.99 for 2 bags one is 100x70cm and the other is 50x60cm in the big one i managed to get our double sleeping bag, our sons bag blanket and 2 pillows lol yey
Sounds a great idea. Having never used one, when packing up to go home, how do you get the vacuum suction? Do you have to take a vacuum cleaner with you?
I just bought some for our first trip too... got mine off ebay.
I've been adviced that the coleman quick pump 12v does a great job in sucking out the air, ready to come home!
Hope so

hmmm haven't found these in ours yet but will keep looking
I love Home bargains
I bought a pop up garden bin today for £2.99 which I will use to put bin bags in rather than have them sitting on the floor
We got them a couple of year ago unless your electric pump is different to ours none of the attachments fit to suck the air out on return journey the ones you roll the air out are dearer but stronger and work much better.

You could always ask the site staff if you could use their vacuum cleaner,as i dare say they will have one to vacuum their office floors etc.
A little thought: I wonder if it would be a good idea if camp sites actually offered this vacuum service to campers ( i dare say they would charge money for it ),considering the amount of people who are now using these vacuum bags? It would mean people really could feel a lot more secure about packing everything ( clothes ) they really feel they may need. When it is time to leave, all they have to do is go to the site manager and ask to use the vacuum cleaner. It would be a lot safer for drivers when travelling back,as there will be no clothes blocking the rear window.

These are all well and good but what if you get a hole in one? I've seen someone turn up with most of their gear vacumed packed, they had faulty valves on a couple of the bags and a hole in another, they couldn't get all of the stuff packed for the trip home.
We bought a couple from home bargains, think they were 600mmx500mm so shocked at how much we could fit in them and only cost 89p each. Nearly got enough clothes in one for a weekend trip for the 3 of us (one being quite small). It ended up weighing about the same as a small suitcase but it was only about as thick as a pizza box, go Dyson. No way it will be as small on the way back but with some rolling and deflation on pump will be so much better than large bag full of clothes.
