We've been camping numerous times now this year and so far having been sticking our 2 year old in with us on a double inflatable mattress. We are finding that she stirs when we go to bed though and none of us are getting as good a nights sleep as we would like so are thinking of getting her her own bed. Does anyone have any suggestions? she doesnt really wriggle about in her sleep so we dont need one with sides and im wondering if just opting for a standard single matress might be a good idea? if so can anyone recommend a reliable yet cheap one?
We have got our 2 year old a kampa bed, Posh air bed with raised sides made specifically for kids. Only paid £15 and you can get them in blue or pink. Dont know how to do a link but just do a search for them.
I have 4 children age 3 - 12, the majority of them have always ended up sliding off the airbed onto the floor, or between the airbeds and onto the floor. Even the older ones. Have camp beds, keeps them off the floor and the ready bed which we had last year when she was 2, it will last her for at least another 3 years - just keeps her off the floor!
I don't really rate Ready beds myself, especially not at the full price. DD1 used one for a bit but we haven't bothered with DD2 (now 4) We don't like buying uneccessary child spcific stuff on the whole if it can be avoided so she just sleeps on her own camping mattress - she currently uses my old 3/4 length lightweight Thermarest as that takes the least space packing. But she's just as happy on an old Karrimat. she does wriggle about all over the place, but even if she slips off the mat it doesn't seem to be aproblem for her Though will probably upgrade her to a standard size self inflating mattress like the rest of us.
Up until 3 she slept in Grobag type baby sleeping bags, last year she got her own sleeping bag - it is a Nitestar Midi - which yes is a kiddie size, but will last her quite a few years yet and we got it pretty cheap.
