i think campingaz runs off butane (blue cylinders).

you can get second hand cylinders to refill from the tip, ebay, freeads, freecycle, cheapcycle, preloved etc!

hope that helps?

It will run off propane or butane.
If you intend to use it in the UK only, or abroad for short trips only, Calor Gas will be the most cost effective option.

Hi - we're new to camping too and have the same stove. We were advised to go to Go Outdoors and get out bottle there. The guys at Go Outdoors advised us not to get the Camping Gaz cylinders as they are more expensive to refill. So we got the 907 ( I think) 4.5kg butane (in a blue bottle). That was £29.99 for the hire of the bottle plus £12 to get it filled. And then it's £12 each fill up.

But also someone else advised me to go to the local tip and pick up an empty bottle from there.

We just did it through the store as we didn't really know what we were doing - lol.

Happy Camping. x

You can run it off, butane, propane or Campingaz, just buy the correct regulator.
Campingaz is more expensive than butane or propane, but if you plan to holiday abroad then its your best option,as butane and propane isn't available on mainland Europe

Campingaz IS butane. Butane and propane are the chemical names of the gases, not to be confused with the brand name of the supplier printed on the cylinder.
Go Outdoors were correct to steer you away from Campingaz based on price.
The 4.5kg cylinder and the £29.99 deposit referred to above will be a Calor Gas cylinder. This is the best option in terms of cost.
Andy.

Andy's right 4.5kg Calor is the best cost option in the UK.  Have a look in local paper, ebay etc and you shoudl be able to get an empty bottle for under a tenner which will be a decent saving over the £29 calor contract.

Thanks guys - actually got a campingaz 907 through ebay for £10 local pick up and took it to CW berries and paid £17 to fill it up so quite happy with that for a first time effort - especially as it came with the regulator ! Just need some nice weather on Monday as going to Silverdale with 3 other mums and 9 kids!!!!!!

I think on balance you made the best choice !  that 907 will take up just a fraction of the space of the smallest calor cyliinder - and hooked up to your chef unit - will last for ages !!  all you need now is the dinky little canvas slip on cover for it ( £3,75 )  that will hide all that battered paint and make it look ever so pretty !!  ( love mine ) LOL  - yes Im sad,  I know.....  http://www.surplusandoutdoors.com/images/product/main/GAZ-BOTTLE-COVER.jpg
