Hiya,

it depends on the amount of space you have and what you want to cook.

personally we got a cheap set from argos which had everything for the kitchen in it.

I used to take cheaper normal pots and pans, sieve and bowl for camping, and found them took up too much space.

Hence I bought folding sieve and bowl, and invested on some proper camping cookware that have folding or detachable handles that stack up to form a neat small pack.

I probably do not need them, however, I just could not resist a cute set of 3 stainless steel saucepans with folding handles and a lid by Campingaz, and bought myself a cute non-stick folding frying pan too.

I probably take these with me for use with a suitcase stove or two in the winter under a canopy, as it is unlikely I shall be BBQing, and shall rely on food that is wet, hot and starchy that require boiling/reheating with saucepans.

Take proper pans from home if you have room for them.

Would you cook at home using thin lightweight pans with folding handles?

No, however, my pots and pans weigh a ton, and I seldom cook just enough for one meal as batch cooking is much more economical.

I agree with Bernie I use a spare set from home they are much sturdier than camping sets, I found special camping saucepans slip around alot, I may take my Wok pan this year, basically if you have room take what you are used to at home.

It is a question of budget at times, especially when first starting out with camping.

I took pans from the kitchen at first, but now have a set of camping pans by Outwell that are quite good quality so they are not thin on the bottom,  plus a medium sized wok with lid.
