Are there different types of butane Gas Cartridges (the ones canisters for a single cooker or small portable gas heater) We're heading off at lunchtime today on a weekend camping trip - we bought a portable gas heater from Argos item 340/1974 but the Campingaz butane cartridge does not seem to fit it - on the box it says to only use a 'HiGear 629' cartridge (which no-one seems to sell)
yes theres a few different types of cartridges and cannisters. some are push fit and some threaded. best to take the heater to the shop and ask them which you need?

There is a very similar cartridge that does not have the notch and has a screw-on valve, it is used on some lightweight stoves and blowtorches etc.
Thanks Everyone - unfortunately none of the camping shops stocked the correct size cannister so we didn't get to use the heater, and indeed I learned that there are different sized cannisters, even if they vary is size only slightly.
Argos sell the HiGear Camping Heater with the Campingaz Cartridges. We tried these cartridges and they didn't fit (just makes a hissing noise) it also says on the box of the heater to only use HiGear 269 cartridges? There is really only one way the cartridges can go into the heater, and the heater and the cartridges are definitely not compatable....(I even tried another cartridge just in case the one I was using was faulty)
