Hi Daisy, personally speaking, I'd stick with the fan heater. It's more a directed heat than a radiant heat you'd get from a halogen or radiator. It's very hard to warm a room with radiant heat when the flysheet doesn't insulate all that well. With the fan heater, it directs it at you to take the edge off, and with a specific camping heater like the outwell ones, they have the safety cutout built in. Even leaving it on all night can make a difference, and I don't find the noise intrusive, pretty much on a par with having a cooler running.
You didn't say what type of heater you use, but I'd recommend an Outwell M fan heater. Two heat settings, and a cold blow, can't quite remember the wattage of the two settings right now though. Wazz it on high for instant warmth in the evening, then knock it down to low during the night to keep the cold at bay.
