im wanting a good quality sleeping bag, but dont know of any good 'brands'. im going to look on ebay. can anyone recommend a particular brand ? one that will keep me warm at the north pole lol
if you want a really warm one you'll need a 4 seasons type. not a brand but when you can use it and expect to be warm. 3 seasons will see you through spring and autumn but be a bit chilly on very cold nights.

They also die if you leave them in the freezer.
Please keep your dogs at room temperature!
Sleeping bags, there is a good selection here......... Sleeping bag selection You did not say what your budget was but some of these should keep you warm in most places, not sure about the North Pole though. Probably better off asking Ray Mears...........
Just a quick tip though:- Try the equipment section for this subject!!!! Equipment

I like the look of this one
Think I'll have to save up though...........
Hi. I was looking at that too, as well as a British Army version, but I'm too chicken to shell out the cash in case it turns out to be either a waste of money, or massive overkill. If you do take the plunge, I'd be interested to know what it's like when it's raining outside, and the wind chill is vicious !

How about Snugpak - the proper Brit mil bags?
I have it on good authority that Zorro already uses a Snugpak.
I would endorse what smallB has said. Snugpak are the leading European sleeping bag manufacturer and are well known world wide for the quality of their bags.
Not all of their bags are made in the UK, though. So many people were getting their gear copied in the far east (including the MoD!) that they have brought out their own ranges (like the Chrysalis and Elite ranges) that are also made out there. This has helped keep the price down.
Another advantage of the Chrysalis and Elite ranges are that they have built-in expander panels - great for the larger person and for when it gets a bit too warm at night.
Their premium ranges, like the Softie and Premier ranges, are still made in the UK. They are more expensive but worth the money if you've got it.
I'm also looking at the US army bag. It is expensive, but should last me the rest of my camping days (and nights)
I have a Vango Astral 350 XL 2/3 season 64 oz but I was cold last Sunday night when I used it for the first time. I ended up adding an old Argos bag unzipped over the top, and was then really warm. The second night I used both again, and woke up sweating and had to get rid of the top cover. I just bought my wife a Lichfield Hurricane Super 350 2/3 season 100 oz the same extra large size bag that is identical except much thicker, and that looks like it will be a lot warmer. Bit of a bargain at £20
------------- Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.
if you want a an excellent quality warm lightweight sleeping bag you cant go wrong with the alpkit bags and there customer service is amazing there also made with duck down which is lighter than heavy synthetic bags but if your just car camping it wont matter about weight mind you.
