The Tesco rectangular sleeping bags are very good indeed if bulky but it seems to me that you'd be better off with a duvet.

Take care

Not a bad idea, Rik, though part of my entourage is a Great Dane, so we have to be mindful of the carrying space. The dog takes up the back section of the Discovery, which means everything else has to go on the back seats. It gets a bit crowded.

But thanks for the thought. I'll go and check them out.

I didn't think I was that large. I wonder what other lads do.

OK, just to give some feedback, I eventually went for the Snugpak Softie Chrysalis Autumn which has this expandable option (like those suitcases that you can unzip to reveal an extra depth).

Basically, it has two side zips. One which keps the reasonably tight shape (165cm at the shoulder) for when you want to hunker down in cold weather. The second gives an extra 10cms at the shoulder (and tapering down to the feet) - ideal for when you feel you need a little more room.

Simply choose which you want to use. I got mine online from Packyourbags Travel store (in Kent), http://shop.packyourbags.com and it arrived just as promised.

Thanks to all tof you who provided such helpful suggestions.
