Have been looking at the Electric hook up on all the Sites and even at the shops most the ones i have seen look like a 16 year old apprentice has put them togeather.

Think ill pass on getting any at all due to the Quality of them..

Try giving towsure's EHU a once over.

www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.towsure.co.uk

Other camp websites have them too, and probably cheaper.

Ours is exactly the same as their 3 plug one. Each time the site owners gives ours the once over the are quite impressed.

Yes they probably were! I am a qualified electrical engineer, and we all have to start some where, how else would you expect apprentices to be trained? What would you expect a 16yr old apprentice to do?

So long as they pass the quallity control and electrical testing before leaving the factory they are safe. They have to be, think about it!

We got our 20m 3 plug hookup with RCD from essexcamping for £69.99.

It seems excellent quality and we have had no problems with it.

Hi,

We bought ours off eBay from a seller by the name of Jaguarpig.  As he provided a phone number on his auction, my husband rang him to find out whether his hook up was up to the necessary standards.

This seller is an electrician and has his own business, knows what he's doing and certainly provided us with a well put together, robust hook up, complete with safety cut out etc.  The hook ups he sells are brand new and made by himself.  Cost was £59.99 inc p&p and we certainly have no complaints about the quality of the product.

We bought our EHU from Towsure and have returned it today! We first used it in June and found that when we unplugged our appliances the socket lifted out of the holder. Hubby wasn`t too bothered (but I am a worrier and wasn`t happy!). We used it again this weekend (we had used it inbetween but hadn`t bothered too much about it) and when I plugged the fridge in the whole socket fell into the main box!!!!!! I completely freaked out and had a tantrum about not using it and it being dangerous etc..etc and we decided to take it back for a refund (which we got!). Now keeping a look out for a decent one!

God bless x

Got mine from Essexcamping, paid same price as Kath, £69.99.  Well worth the money for safety reasons and peace of mind.

Hi

Beware of some of Jaguarpigs products, this is one of his products

NO protection whatsoever, you would be mad to use one and he should know better than to sell it to campers, for most people saying he is an electrician would be enough to convince them that what he sells is safe.
The above is downright dangerous. damp could make teking a plug out lethal !!

This next product is better

from same chap at least this as RCD protection and waterproofing to IP 66

Believe me it can`t be any worse than the rubbish we bought from Towsure!! Is it safe when the whole socket lifts out of the holder exposing bare wires??!! NOoooooo I don`t think so! We have just ordered the second option shown above from Jaguarpig and it looks 100% safer than what we had!

God bless x

We had the same problem with our old one. We got it from a local camping centre and it looked the business. After 4 weekends, the socket fell out of the casing.

That's one reason I made ours! It was no cheaper than buying one but at least it shouldn't fall apart after 4 weekends!

The pic shows the unit It has 4 socket oulets and a 25mtr lead, we have a longer lead too  in case we need it.

Happy Camping Frank & Kathy
