This may sound a bit silly but I want to put a vertical doorway into the tent. I have a Sunncamp Penta with a canopy doorway and want to add a door onto the canopy so I can leave the canopy up. I can buy the material and zips but attaching them to the tent material is the main problem. Apart from sending the tent away to be stitched has anyone any other ideas how to attach the zips to the existing material?

We had a Penta!

Wouldn't dream of attempting what you propose though! We used to keep the poles ready for the porch for when we got back & the Guy ropes remained pegged outside & draped them over a wind-break until needed.

Opened up, slipped the poles into the holes & hooked the Guys over the top! ...... it was a 20 second job!

You mean so that you can go off and leave the canopy up for the day or during the night? I wouldn't. Doesn't sound too stable if the wind got up. After all there's only the two king poles to hold it up, remember.

My SIL used to own a Penta, btw. Great doorway design with these big gusset flaps. I wish more tents had these.

Hi Simon & welcome to the forum 17

A person after my own heart - I'm always looking to do alterations/improvements to our tents too.  I don't actually know what the Penta looks like, but if you're worried about joining an additional doorway onto your tent, could you keep the original door/canopy as the main door, and make a separate canopy with four eyelets & rig it up over the front of your tent using poles & guy ropes?
