I have just purchased a caravan that has a Dorema madison awning, which is very nice.

That said, the poles that go from the van to the front frame have hooks on the end, these fit into a mating bracket that is screwed to the van side, ( or not in my case because they keep coming off because the holes are now too big in the van). Should I buy some of the new fancy "quick lock" things that sew onto the awning bead.

Has anyone else had problems with this crap idea, or is it just me.

Hi Allan

You could replace the brackets on the Van, they are very cheap, but make sure you seal them. see by your location you are local to me Try Jacksons of Old Arley.

I had a Dorema awning & there was a second plastic beading inside the one that threaded through the awning rail, the plastic things fastened on to that & the hooks went into the plastic things.

If there isn't a second beading then I would go back to the old fashioned way & get some suckers that go on the ends instead of the hooks (the hooks just pull out & you can push the suckers on). They're not very expensive & you can get them in any caravan accessory shop.

Much better than messing about with holes in your van.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
