I've been searching for some fleece blankets or the plastic backed picnic rugs for using in the tent. Went to Tesco today and their plastic backed picnic rug is reduced in the sale to £4. If anyone is looking for them, be quick!
I bought a load from £land today.....but they are only tiny lol. I'll have to use two to put under a single airbed. So....I'm def on the lookout for more! Ta! <{:0)x
I bought a couple of rugs from somerfield, they were £5 each and an okay size. But I used them in our living area and bought the somerfield roll mats for £3 each under our beds....and we were alot warmer.
I have three of the tesco ones...just the right size for the bedroom...under the bed and warm feet when you get up, plus one centrally in the living area..why pay more?
Thought I would use picnic rugs for tent carpets . Bad idea !
They slide about on the groundsheets . Unless trapped under something heavy. If your tent is on even a slight slope the picnic blanket heads south. The ones we bought hold fast on top of our non slip tent carpet so Ok for that. Think carefully before you buy , they might be an accident waiting to happen or at the very least , an annoyance.
One good use for the foil backed ones is ... An easily pinned up splash protector for behind a cooker. I cook outside my tent in a side extension with windbreak. I have the cooker on the windbreak side but it can be painfull with fat splashes etc with the essential morning bacon butty . The picnic rug is pegged on the windbreak only whilst cooking as a splash guard . They arnt fireproof so don't expect them to be. They can be wiped clean easily and of course are an inexpensive item to replace at the end of their life.
Good luck and happy camping.

------------- Camping to the ex.tent that I like awnings as a bit on the side.
I don't think there is any substitue for fitted carpet for your tent... Yeah, it's more expensive than picnic rugs, but like the above post, they can be dangerous. We used them on or first trip before I bought the carpet, I almost slipped over quite a few times!
The carpet is also insulation, there is no damp anf it's lovely and cozy too

Gillivers in Moira nr Ashby de la Zouch sell a load of different one's and trekking rugs too. Some of them are branded and cheaper than I've seen them elsewhere.Regatta and Gelhert mainly I think.
------------- Travelloo for when you've just got to go!A unisex, disposable urinal and the ideal camping companion.
